I downloaded the iso-image of ubuntu 8.04 and burned it. I made a backup of my home directory and a couple of other important files (mostly sty-files for my LaTeX thingies).
Installed ubuntu 8.04, copied my home directory into the new system.
Opened firefox and created this blog.
Configured firefox (in Preferences) and joined google experimental search.
Changed colors in xterm (white on black). Customize the panels (upper: autohide, system monitor, moved clock to lower panel, removed other defaults etc.). Changed appereance (black on white, black desktop).
Installed all the new updates (121).
