15.24: Finally managed to find a solution to the Desktop/home-dir thingy. I changed "XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/" to XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/Desktop/" in ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs. Pretty simple. My google fu is weak.
15.29: Installing smartmontools. I remember the uproar in the ubuntu community when some ubuntu dude posted "UBUNTU IS KILLING YOUR HARDDRIVE" on his blog. So I'm keeping an eye on the load cycle count via "sudo smartctl -d ata -a /dev/sda | grep Load_Cycle_Count".
15.32: Also, I'm considering buying an Asus Eee pc. That'll be fun. Will probably not stick to the standard Xandros dist, but venture into some kind of eeebuntu dist.
